Switzerland Nightlife | Enjoy Your Nights in Switzerland

by Travel in Blogs February 15, 2022
by Travel in Blogs February 15, 2022

Switzerland nightlife is vast and quite different from the nightlife in big cities. For one, it has 3 time zones which can make it difficult to know what time it actually is.

As a result, many night clubs and bars stay open until 6 am to accommodate people who cross time zones to get there. This made Switzerland the number one destination for Europeans seeking a good night out.

Which City in Switzerland has the Best Nightlife?

Switzerland has a lot of cities, but Zurich is the best place to go out at night and find cool clubs. If you want to party late into the night, or even well into the next morning, Zurich has the most nightclubs in Switzerland.

It’s not hard to find a place to do that. Some of the most popular clubs, such as Aura and Jade, are very flashy and popular with the city’s “somebodies.”

There are a lot of different types of music and venue styles to choose from. Getting dressed up is the main thing at these places, and the prices of drinks match the big house music. To get a more rough and tumble night out, hipsters head over to Zurich West.

Zukunft is a small basement club with edgy electro music. Most clubs have a good mix of fun people and good DJ names. Plaza is one of them. For more Zurich clubs where you can dance, keep reading.

Is Zurich a Party Town?

If you want to talk, you’ll mostly speak Zürich German, which is an Alemannic Swiss German dialect. The official language of Zürich is German, but most people speak Zürich German instead. Swiss National Museum: This museum is in the city.

The Kunsthaus: This is an art gallery that is also in the city. There are more than 50 museums and more than 100 galleries in Zurich. It is one of the best places in the world to buy and sell art.

The Opera House, the Tonhalle Orchestra (concert hall orchestra), and the Schauspielhaus Zurich (municipal theater), all of which are in Zurich, have a high standard of culture.

Zurich came first in Monocle’s 2012 “Quality of Life Survey,” which looked at how well cities in the world were living. The survey looked at how well cities were to live in.

According to a lot of surveys, people in Zurich live the best lives on Earth and in Europe. Zürich is also the wealthiest city there, according to GDP per capita.

At any time of year, a city on the River Limmat buzzes with life. There are a lot of big events in Zurich every year. The Street Parade, the Zurich Festival, outdoor concerts, movies, and the World Class Zurich (a track and field meeting) are some of the most popular.

The Nightlife in Zurich

Switzerland Nightlife - Nightlife in Zurich

Zurich has a lot of cultural things to see, and it is one of the best places in the world to buy and sell art. Zurich is the place to go for nightlife lovers because no other place in Switzerland has so many different types of nightlife.

Whether you’re at a bar on Langstrasse, in a cosy lounge high above Zurich’s rooftops, or in a club with electronic, rock, or experimental music, thanks to the short distances, Zurich’s clubs, bars, and concerts will make your night out one to remember.

The Opera House, the Tonhalle Orchestra (concert hall orchestra), and the Schauspielhaus Zurich (municipal theater), all of which are in Zurich, have a high standard of culture.

So, check out our suggestions here for the best places to go in Zurich, and all of them are ready to make you happy as you enjoy your nightlife there:

Live performance at Opernhaus Zurich

If you want to see some of the best opera and ballet in the world in Zurich, then the Opernhaus Zurich is the place for you.

The Opernhaus Zurich has been open since 1891. It is the city’s main theater for opera and ballet shows.

We think you should go to at least one opera or ballet show because the performances are so good. If you go to the performances, you will be amazed at how beautiful they are.

Jazz Club Moods im Schiffbau

Switzerland Nightlife - Nightlife in Zurich

In Zurich, the best place to listen to jazz music is the Jazz Club Moods im Schiffbau. Moods are one of the most popular jazz clubs in Zurich like Bird’s Eye Jazz Club, so it attracts a lot of well-known people from both inside and outside the city.

To get some privacy at Moods, you can become one of the club’s VIP guests and book a gallery area or a private balcony for your own. While you’re listening to some jazz, you can drink some drinks. Their cool club bar has a great selection of cocktails and liquors, and it’s very hip.

Enjoy drinks at the open-air Rimini Bar

To make new friends, go to a bar called the Rimini Bar and talk to people there. In Zurich, this bar is one of the best and most impressive open-air bars.

There is a huge wooden deck where visitors can talk to each other in a more casual way. There is a bar where you can relax and enjoy the view of the Sihl River. It is only open when the weather is good.

Party hard at the Street Parade

Switzerland Nightlife - Nightlife in Zurich

In August, Zurich has a huge electronic music festival called the Street Parade. During the festival, about a million people dance in the street as a long line of trucks, called “Love Mobiles,” make their way through them.

If you want to keep the party going, the Kaufleuten is a great place, and you can’t go wrong with the Plaza or the Mascotte.

People who are a little edgier and younger can go to the Hive or the Härterei, and newer places on Langstrasse like Cafe Gold and Kinski are still getting attention.

Thermalbad & Spa Zurich

In Zurich, if it’s cold and rainy, you should go to the Hürlimann Areal. It has a Thermalbad and Spa. Amazing and wonderful: The view of the city from its rooftop pool is worth the fee.

In the basement, you can relax in the huge wooden water-filled tubs from the old brewery, and for an extra fee, enjoy the Irish-Roman spa, which has steam baths and small pools.

The place gets very crowded on the weekends, so be sure to arrive early to avoid any trouble. If you want to have a more private spa experience, check out the Stadtbad on Helvetiaplatz. It has a very stylish hammam.

Best Bars in Zurich

There are a lot of bars in Zurich that will meet your needs. There are a lot of high-quality cocktail bars and summer beach bars on the lake and river.

Most bars in Zurich close at midnight on weekdays and 2 am on weekends. Around 05 am, some bars and clubs close.

You can easily get around on foot in a small city like this if you plan your route very carefully in terms of what you want to do at night. There are public swimming pools along the lake and river in Zurich called “Badis.” There are also small bars next to them.

If you’ve had a long day of exploring the city’s great attractions and other fun things to do, you might be in the mood for a drink to quench your thirst, so check out our list of the best places in Zurich to get one.

ONYX Bar

Switzerland Nightlife - Best Bars in Zurich

Park Hyatt Zurich’s ONYX Bar is a great place for a nightcap. Visitors can enjoy hand-rolled cigars, barrel-aged craft cocktails, malt whiskeys, vintage wines, high-end vodkas, and many more in a trendy setting.

Floor-to-ceiling glass walls let you see the summer terrace of Parkhurst restaurant from this modern bar. It’s named after the onyx stone that adorns this place.

ONYX Bar is a great place to relax and refresh your senses. You can get there through the lobby of Park Hyatt Zurich or through its own entrance on the street.

Old Crow

It’s one of the most popular and well-known bars in Europe, and it’s in Zurich, Switzerland. The bar has more than 1,200 rare spirits, and they’re all available by the glass.

The bartenders, Markus Blattner and Jvan Paszti have their own personal collection of whiskeys, bourbons, and ryes, and they serve them in small glasses.

Cocktails made by the two multi-award winners aren’t the only thing they specialize in. They also serve some rare and forgotten drinks with their own creations.

This place has one of the best soft drink lists in Switzerland. It has a lot of Swiss beers, wine, whiskey, and liqueurs, as well as a lot of Champagne.

Angels’ Wine Tower Bar

Switzerland Nightlife - Best Bars in Zurich

Located in the Radisson Blu Hotel at Zurich Airport, this bar is worth a visit before or after your flight. With trains taking just 9 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof, it’s a great place to meet up when you start your night out.

Between 18:00 and 23:00 on Mondays and Saturdays, the main attraction is a glass tower that holds over 4,000 bottles of wine and champagne. Attractive gymnasts soar around the glass structure as they pick up each wine.

They also put on headline shows with music, colorful lights, and impressive acrobatic moves at different times of the day.

George’s Bar and Grill

It opened in 2014 on the fifth floor of Switzerland’s largest casino. It has a beautiful wooden cocktail bar, electro swing music with musicians, and a terrace on three sides of the building that looks out over the rooftops of the city.

Dynamo

Switzerland Nightlife - Best Bars in Zurich

This live music venue, bar, and bathing area on the Limmat River, near the gardens of the Swiss National Museum, is housed in three buildings that were once part of a brewery.

It has been a youth center run by the city of Zurich since the 1930s and, along with factory workshops, hosts subculture events.

The bar and concert areas are open all year, but in the summer, when the locals come to swim and drink by the river, the venue really comes to life. There is also a restaurant that serves vegetarian and vegan food.

Bar Rimini

The “Badi” is the oldest men-only city center in Zurich, dating back to 1824. It has a swimming pool next to the old city walls and the Alter Botanischer Garten in the Schanzengraben moat.

It is also open to women from 17:00 to midnight in the evening, when the waterside bar is open from May to September.

Sportsbar 1904

Switzerland Nightlife - Best Bars in Zurich

A bar is a great place for sports fans, young people, business and corporate people, and people who drive to and from work to meet and watch live sports.

Not only is soccer shown, but so are ice hockey and tennis and basketball and a lot of other things as well, too. In addition to watching live sports, international DJs often keep the party going into the wee hours of the morning with top-notch music.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of international beers, wines, cocktails, and high-end finger food even when there aren’t any live events being shown on the TV.

Goethe Bar

As you walk downtown, you’ll see a bar and lounge named Goethe. It’s next to the Opera House. During the day, you can focus on “Savoir Vivre,” eat the right kind of light snacks or relax with a drink that fits your taste in alcohol after a long day of work.

Cinchona Bar

Switzerland Nightlife - Best Bars in Zurich

Locals, hotel guests, and people who like cocktails from all over the world are encouraged to drink aperitifs here. When it’s daytime, the Cinchona Bar in the 25 hours Hotel Langstrasse is a cozy living room.

In the evening, it becomes a place for socializing in a relaxed setting. They are served on the rocks and in tall, chilled highball glasses, so they can be made quickly and quickly drank, letting people try out different concoctions and flavours.

Does Zurich Have a Red Light District?

As Switzerland eases up on its lockdown rules, it has set aside a special place for sex workers, who can start working again on June 6. But sports, like boxing and ballroom dancing, will still be banned.

Sex work is legal in Switzerland, where about 20,000 people work there. Red light districts can be found in Geneva and Zurich, but they aren’t as well-known as Amsterdam’s De Wallen, which is still closed.

The Swiss government said on Wednesday that strip clubs and sex workers can start working again on June 6. (27 May).

Advice for brothels in the era of coronavirus is even available to help them get back to work after the virus came out. Prokore, an industry group for sex workers, says that “room doors in companies can’t be left open.”

This is because “in order to protect the privacy of sex workers and customers, room doors in companies can’t be left open.”

There is more to being a good friend than just going to a brothel. If the service is done in the car, there are also safety rules to follow. The sex worker needs to make sure the car is ventilated for at least 10 minutes and write down the car’s license plate number.

Bizarrely, sex work isn’t done when people don’t interact with each other. If two people want to have a service together, they should keep at least one forearm apart. There aren’t any services that can be done with two or more people, though.

How Expensive is Zurich?

First, we went to Zurich, which is one of the most popular places in the country. Small and charming, it has a unique vibe that is more like a town than a city centre.

As many times before, Zurich was nice, but it was my least favourite place to visit in this country of the Alps. With Ljubljana in Slovenia or Bucharest in Romania, this is the same thing.

Swiss paradise isn’t found in cities like Zurich or Geneva. To see the real thing, you have to get away from cities like that.

How Much Does Zurich Cost?

Switzerland Nightlife - How Much Does Zurich Cost?

People say that Switzerland is the most expensive country in the world, and that’s true. They charge a lot more for things like transportation and lodging than they do in the states next to them.

Even a one-way tram ride in Zurich costs about 6 CHF (5 EUR/6 USD). Make sure you buy a daily or return pass if you need it. This will save you money.

The prices in normal supermarkets can be three times more expensive than in Germany, except for Lidl, which can be found in the city center of Zurich, which has a lot of cheap food.

To help you deal with the high prices in Switzerland, I’m going to write about how to save money while travelling there soon. You can read it here.

Where to Shop and How to Save Money in Zurich

I’m not talking about a high-end experience here. I’m talking about the simple act of going to the store to buy food. Coop and Migros are two of the big supermarket chains in Zurich, and they both have stores in the city.

If you want to save money, I think you should buy things at Lidl or Aldi. They are the cheapest, but the quality is still good. Good news: One of the Lidl supermarkets is in the middle of Zurich, right next to the city’s main attraction, the Fraumünster Church. This is a good thing.

When you book a place to stay, look for an apartment or hostel with a kitchen instead of a hotel. If you cook your own food, it will be much cheaper than eating out in Zurich’s expensive restaurants. Spend at least 10-12 CHF on a fast food meal.

That’s true, even if you don’t like to cook. Lidl has its own bakery, where you can buy simple and warm foods like pizza bread or croissants, for example. When you do your grocery shopping in Switzerland, you need to pay attention to the time.

Most supermarkets and American Restaurant close very early (around 6 pm) and they are closed on Sundays. Only at the main train station can you go shopping after hours and on holidays. Even though the train station has a lot of cheap restaurants that aren’t very good, you can still get a quick meal there.

What to See in Zurich

Switzerland Nightlife - What to See in Zurich

if you don’t want to spend too much money, book a room outside the city center. Zurich is very small. It’s not hard to get to the city because the public transportation is very good. Even though it costs a lot, it will still be cheaper than staying in the city center.

If you’re into football, you might want to check out the Fifa World Museum. The Old Town area with beautiful buildings, small streets, and churches is the only thing worth going to see.

The Old Town looks a lot like a German town, but it also has a little bit of French and more southern – Italian flair to it. As far as Italy goes, there is very little of that there in Zurich: It looks different the further south you go.

Switzerland is very different because it’s made up of three different cultures. If you want to see more of it than just stay in Zurich, you should.

  1. Zurich Train Station/National Museum
  2. Old Town – Augustinergasse
  3. The Catholic Church
  4. St. Peter’s Church
  5. Bahnhofstrasse/Paradeplatz
  6. Fraumunster Church
  7. Grossmunster Church
  8. Lake Zurich

Conclusion

Switzerland nightlife is quiet, but it’s perfect for relaxing. The best way to experience Swiss nightlife is to enjoy nature or join a local game of cards.

If you’re looking to head out for some fun, then I recommend checking out Zurich. Here, you can find plenty of restaurants, bars, and clubs that come alive at night!
